The case is in the jury’s hands

October 18th, 2007

Dear Friends,

The case is now in the hands of the jury. I wanted to let you know that our family is stronger today then ever before. We would like you to please pray for the right verdict. We will be near the court during the wait and your welcome to call us or email if you would like. Hannah would be proud of the fight we gave for her. I can’t even begin to explain how difficult the entire processs was for Lorena and I. We are pleased that it is over. We thank you for the kind words and prayers.

Monday starts the beginning of the end of Hannah’s in court justice.

October 1st, 2007

Dear Friends,

Monday starts the beginning of the end of Hannah’s in court justice. We are now anxious to get this phase completed. Our family has become stronger through this process that usually destroys people from the devastation of the Criminal Justice System. We will do everything needed to make certain that Hannah gets justice inside and outside the Court. Just yesterday Lorena and i met with some of the most powerful legislators in California again to push them to continue to develop proper laws that help Prevent these types of abuses. The First Law is just several months away from being signed in by the Governor.

Please consider joining us in court to support Hannah and our family in Auburn CA. Going to court isn’t easy but when you have friends with you it is certainly easier to handle the pressure. If you do want to join us you can come for 10 minutes or spend the day. The Historical Court Building in Downtown Auburn Ca. The Domed Building on the hill…

Thank you for your support,
Scott & Lorena Juceam

Case Update

September 5th, 2007

Dear Friends,

The trial is well on it’s way for the second week of testimony in Hannah’s case. Today the Police will go through the interview and confession of our former nanny. We are in court 8:30am to 4pm, located in the Auburn Historical Court House, Downtown Auburn, CA in the Domed building. The exit is Maple off the 80 freeway in Auburn. Lorena is giving me and the family strength in ways you just can’t imagine. My wife and I are reliving the tragedy like groundhog day. We will soon have the chance to live on without a court proceeding determining our life. Please pray for the right outcome and join us if you can. Thank you for being there during this difficult time.

Nanny changed story in tot’s death, jury told

August 29th, 2007

AUBURN — A nanny accused of shaking a 15-month-old girl to death last year in Roseville gave investigators four versions of how the child sustained her injuries, a prosecutor told a Placer County jury Tuesday.

Veronica Martinez Salcedo, who is charged with murder and willful cruelty to a child causing death or injury, told police she heard a noise May 11, 2006, and found the child, Hannah Rose Juceam, unresponsive on the floor, Deputy District Attorney Karin Bjork said.

Bjork said Martinez Salcedo, 36, later gave versions that included a bar stool falling on Hannah; the child being shaken to stop crying; and the baby falling on the floor while being rocked.

Hannah was taken off life support two days later, after doctors determined that she was brain dead, Bjork said.

Martinez Salcedo’s attorney, Mary Beth Acton, told the jury that her client shook the baby lightly, but only after she heard a “thud” in another room and found the child on the floor crying. By then, however, Hannah’s eyes were rolling back into her head, Acton said.

Dear Friends,

Today is the beginning of the “IN Court Justice” for Hannah Rose Juceam. Our Angel has been busy sending signs that it will be OK. We are looking to them to gain strength and continue to honor Hannah with dignity, purpose and meaning to an awful and early departure from life here on earth. Please check in with us and consider joining us at the proceedings.
Please call or send emails that you can make it.

Trial to begin Aug 17

July 31st, 2007

The trial for Hannah is expected to begin Aug 17Th in Auburn Ca. We will be getting more and more information as to the further possibility of delay. The DA has done a very good job of preparing for what is considered a WAR. The courts understanding is the Trial will begin on the 17Th barring any significant motions from the defense. Lorena and I would like to ask our friends and family to join us in the proceedings. We will need as much support as you all can imagine.

Please contact us if you can go to trial. We will continue to alert you when we find out more. Please continue to keep Hannah in your thoughts.

SB 468

June 13th, 2007

Dear Friends,

We wanted to let you know that the first Bill associated with Shaken Baby Syndrome has passed through the California Senate last week. I was asked to speak to many legislators from around the state regarding the need for Hospital based programs. We are pleased with the efforts of many in honoring Hannah Rose. The Bill known as SB 468 is allocating funds for 10 counties. The hospitals in these counties will start distributing Shaken Baby Syndrome materials consistent with the New York based model that has proven to decrease the numbers of children Shaken each year. We are learning to live with the harsh reality that this is our life now. We are very appreciative of your support. We will continue to update you on the progress of the Bill now on the way to the State Assembly for the same vote. The Sacramento Child Abuse Prevention Center has been instrumental in the passing of this very important legislation. Thank you.

Hannah Memorial
Friday, May 11th

May 7th, 2007

Dear Friends,

We are now entering a very tough time as you can imagine. The year went by faster then ever and we are no closer to a resolution regarding the criminal proceedings with our sitter. We at times feel like it’s been an eternity. We look for what we call “bits of joy” to keep us moving forward on the road of life. We would like you to please join us at a memorial we are having for Hannah Friday May 11th 2007 at the Chapel where Hannah is.

The East Lawn Mortuary is located 5757 Greenback Lane Sacramento Ca 95841

The memorial will be Friday 7 pm May 11th in the Chapel where the original service took place. We are requesting our friends and family to be there with us to reflect on Hannah’s life and our mission to honor her and further her legacy.
If you would like to bring a friend or neighbor we are perfectly ok with that. I would love to have as many people as possible to show Hannah we are all there for her. If you have any ideas to make this special please email us right away.

The service will be very short proceeded by a walk to the site where Hannah is located. We thought it would be great if everyone brought a single rose to place at the site. If you can please bring a rose with you.

Sincerely,

Scott,Lorena,Jordan and Benjamin Juceam
